Case Study: Hotel Renovation in Michigan

Project Overview

2d

3D LiDAR Scanning and Revit Modeling

A Michigan-based architecture firm trusted Onpoint to provide precise 3D LiDAR scanning and Revit modeling services for the renovation of a hotel’s first floor. The project aimed to update key interior and exterior spaces, requiring accurate documentation of existing conditions to guide the renovation process.

Scope of Work

Onpoint performed both interior and exterior 3D LiDAR scanning of the hotel, capturing detailed data with a color point cloud to ensure the highest level of accuracy. The scanning process took just one day on site, minimizing disruption to hotel operations while gathering crucial information for the renovation.

Deliverables

Onpoint delivered a Revit model at Level of Development (LOD) 350, which provided the architecture firm with detailed geometry and sufficient information to support the renovation plans. The model was delivered within 7 days after scanning was completed, ensuring the design team had the information they needed promptly.

Outcome

  3d

The combination of 3D LiDAR scanning and a precise Revit model allowed the architecture firm to confidently move forward with the renovation, equipped with accurate, up-to-date data. This approach ensured that the renovation would proceed smoothly, with minimal risk of errors or delays.
